Wednesday 7th January - walks **** – Orwell Country Park – sunny
periods and cold.
Last nights heavy rain had passed and luckily it is a little milder so it
did not freeze here in Felixstowe! I did my exercises this morning while
Mag walked to Lidl to get her free stuff before I packed a picnic and we
drove to Orwell Country Park on the out skirts of Ipswich arriving just
after one. Once again we walked the opposite way so back across the A 14
and taking the lovely tree lined path which runs beside the noisy road
toward the Orwell Bridge spotting two egrets and a muntjac deer:) We turn
right at the bridge to the seat we recently discovered and enjoyed our
picnic sheltered from the breeze with the bridge right In front of us and
with the tide high no waders today, just a few ducks! Well rested we walk
back under the bridge, past several sheep and two big horses down to the
banks of the river, with the tide dropping there was just enough beach to
walk along! Back up through the pine wood to the van before taking the
scenic route back stopping off at Levington Marina as the sun set!
PS - I was chuffed to discover today that one of my pics was chosen as
photo of the year in the Felixstowe Magazine (2026)
